Sangla valley which is about 12 hours drive from Shimla. It is at the base of the range which hosts mount Kailash. It was chilly the first day with rains, though the clouds gave way to the sun finally to help me view the majestic peaks guarding the valley from all sides. Amazing quite place – a small population and you will find pine, apple, walnut trees every where while the flowers start appearing around July-August. The Bapsa river flows in the valley with clear blue water and trouts are in abundance for the fish lover. Winter is normal with snowfall in late December and January and the snow stay till April.

Check Sangla Pics here

Around 24 hours drive from Delhi and 12 hours from Kalka – the village Rakcham is the second last village of India towards Tibet border. Its also enroute to Leh and Ladakh for trekkers.

Check Rakcham Pics here (more to come shortly)

Petra was lost for hundreds of years and rediscovered in 1812. The site was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 when it was described as “one of the most precious cultural properties of man’s cultural heritage.” The temples and caves of Petra with its huge white rocks forming the gate and the narrow entrance which towers over 21m high rest up on the slope of Mount Hor. The Arabic name of Petra is Wadi Musa – or the Valley of Moses. Aron’s (brother of Moses) shrine is located at Petra on the hill top.

Wadi Rum is a spectacular dessert valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southwest Jordan. It is the largest wadi (valley) in Jordan. The name Rum most likely comes from an Aramaic root meaning ‘high’ or ‘elevated’.

In the West, Wadi Rum may be best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence, who based his operations here during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. In the 1980s one of the impressive rock formations in Wadi Rum was named “The Seven Pillars of Wisdom” in memory of Lawrence’s book penned in the aftermath of the war, though the ‘Seven Pillars’ referred to in the book actually have no connection with Rum

This page contains a few shots of Paris – Mostly architectural. Actually the other pages are loaded with Paris Shots. We stayed near the Arc de Triomph area which offered a good palatte of architecture. Also walking down the Seine was like a treasure hunt. Other places which I liked was Musée d’Orsay (The Orsay Museum) and the Notre Dame.

Claude Monet lived in Givenry in France and his house now stands as a living museum with his works, his beautiful Japanese Garden and Japanese woodcut paints. Apart from all these Givenry is a very romantic place for an artist and for anyone else.
Check Claude Monets Home here and some more shots.

The very sight of an ancient street lamp thrills me – dont know why – maybe because they stand upright in all weather and never fails o perform their duty or maybe for the simple reason they spread light. Here is a collection of my favorite street-lamps.
Check the collection here.

Landscapes has always been my favorite subject as it allows me to capture the many faces of mother earth from different view points – nature as an unlimited supply of canvases where God paints with his own brush in different strokes at different times.
Check here for the landscape page.
